This April, The Northern Edge is teaming up with Rouges and Vagabonds Entertainment (RAVE) to bring you Neil Simon’s “Last of the Red Hot Lovers”.

This Neil Simon classic tells the story of  middle-aged Barney Cashman who married his high school sweetheart.  He wants to have one sweeping extra-marital romantic fling in his tranquil, faithful, marriage before life passes him by. On three different afternoons, he brings women to his mother’s apartment while she’s at the hospital doing work. Behind plentiful laughs is a tender portrayal of a decent fellow who just can’t succeed in sinning.

Start the evening with a great meal of broiled haddock fillets, bacon-wrapped tenderloin, or chicken cordon bleu, sit back to enjoy the show, and relax afterwards with a cocktail, or glass of win–and try to explain to your “better half” how you would never attempt such a folly!

If you’re not from the area, you may not know about this great tradition.  Every March, on the middle and last Wednesday of the month, the Lodi Rotary Club hosts their smelt-fry fundraiser.  Once again the event is being hosted by the Northern Edge.

The meal includes:

• Smelt
• German Potato Salad
• French Fries
• Baked Beans
• Cole Slaw
• Your choice of home-made Rye or White Bread (with butter)
• And Coffee or Milk

Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at the door.  They can be purchased at the Northern Edge or Main Street Liquor.

The proceeds help the Lodi Rotary Club to continue providing the quality community programs they’re famous for.

What’s the show?

Back in the 1950’s, four Lodi sisters made their way to New York City to make their debut on a nationally-syndicated radio show. This summer, they have been the first group chosen to represent “Hometown Hoedown” with a live radio show in Hometown Hoedown features 50’s Christmas Music, starting with Susie, Cheryl, Peggy and Donna in 4-part harmony, known as “The Taffetas”. This year, cousin Ryan Senger will be their accompanist.

Please join Michelle Pare, Doreen Viking, Holly Atkinson, and Hope Fenske as you sing-a-long, listen or dance to the oldies.

What’s the food?

Enjoy a choice of a bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin, chicken cordon bleu, or baked haddock loins–all served with rice pilaf, steamed vegetables, and our famous bread pudding with brandy-butter sauce.
