Spring is here

Spring is here

The daffodils are back!  That means spring is here and the summer fun can start.

Daffodil Days marks the full beginning of spring time in Lodi.  This means that the summer events are starting.  The Free Ferry is already open, so it’s easy to get to the lake, or get here from the lake.   This weekend marks the opening of the Lodi Farmers’ Market, and the first of the Garage Sales.

With the promise of nice weather on Friday and Saturday, this weekend is the perfect time to come out to Lodi for the day and see what’s happening.  Or, if you’re looking for a little something more, make a weekend of it.

Start with a trip to the Farmers’ Market to get starter plants for the summer growing season. There will also be fresh meats and seafood, and (of course!) saplings in honor of Arbor Day.

Then walk into the Northern Edge for the best fish fry in town: all you can eat, with 4 different styles of fish 6 choices of potato (including baked sweet potatoes!), and your choice of calico beans and coleslaw or a full salad bar.  Be sure to get there early or you might miss out on the home-made pie (rumor has it that this week’s offerings might be key-lime and butterscotch).

Make sure you’ve booked your room at that Best Western Country Inn.  Work off the delicious pie by doing a few laps in the heated pool or with a work-out in the fitness room.   Or just relax in the jacuzzi.

Sleep in on Saturday morning–but not too late!  All the best garage sale treasures might be gone.    If they are (and even if they’re not), you can find the real treasures at Different Directions–antiques, collectables, and custom-made jewelery.

It’s going to be another great summer in Lodi.  Come on out and start your summer right–with daffodils!
