Where to Explore in Lodi
Habermann Park
One half of Lodi’s “park district”, Habermann park is a pleasant open area nestled up against Spring Creek. A public shelter has picnic tables and restrooms and a place to sit in the shade. A spring-fed pond trickles out into the creek between two open grassy areas. The small park is perfect for family gatherings, afternoon picnics, and spontaneous games of Frisbee.
Don’t forget to stop by on 4th of July Weekend when the park is host to the annual Art in the Park festival; artists and craftsman from around the area fill the park and bring visitors from across the state.
Goeres Park
The larger half of Lodi’s “park district” is the largest and most diverse of Lodi’s park system, Goeres park includes several separate areas. On the east side of Spring Creek, are 2 playgrounds, the ball park, an open play area, and the free municipal pool and kiddie pool. To the west of the creek are the floral garden, the fountains, and the picnic area.
Goeres Park is also the main location for the Susie the Duck Day festivities. It’s here that the bands play, the games and attractions are located, the vendors set up their food stands, and–most importantly–the finish line for the Duck Derby is set.
Gibraltar State Park
Just a few miles north of downtown is Gibraltar State Park. The sandstone and dolomite pillar rises over lush woods and farmland. With a height of over 1200 feet above sea level, the viewing area offers a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside, including Lake Wisconsin and the Wisconsin River Valley.
Park your car in the small parking area at the foot of the bluff and walk half a mile up the abandoned road to the natural paths at the top. The road weaves up the back side of the bluff through natural woodlands, leaving the top–and it’s beautiful view–hidden until you reach the summit.
